Sydney FC have responded to rumours they are set to make Robbie Fowler their marquee man for the 2010-2011 season as the former England player looks to remain in the A-League.
Liverpool legend Fowler, who turns 35 on Friday, was keen to keep on playing in the A-League despite the financial dramas at North Queensland Fury.
Reports say Fowler will replace John Aloisi as Sydney FC's marquee player with the former Socceroos star having signed on for Melbourne Heart's inaugural season.
The popularity of Fowler, who scored 11 goals in 25 games last season for the Fury, is particularly attractive for Sydney FC as they attempt to lure in bigger crowds next season.
Sydney FC chief executive Edward Lugt told Fox Sports the Sky Blues are not in negotiations with Fowler or his agent, but they are certainly interested in the former Liverpool star.
